Who we are
Wild Spruce Equine Modalities was founded by Brie Doyle out of her commitment to supporting the equine industry move towards more horse centered practices. A dedicated horsewoman and former educational researcher, Brie became passionate about immersing herself in the scientific research about horses’ behavior, cognition, and welfare in order to inform her own training and management practices. She saw the importance of the understanding of the intersection of horses’ mental and physical discomfort in training and management, which led her to deepen her understanding of equine bodywork through completion of a 500 hour Certified Practitioner in Equine Bodywork course with the School of Applied Integrative Therapy. In addition, she is committed to supporting horses’ behavior and training using principles of LIMA and Positive Reinforcement and is currently studying with Shawna Karrasch Equine as a Certifying Professional. Through her work with horses and humans, Brie saw an opportunity to use her skills as a Certified Professional Coach, researcher, and relationship manager, to support equine (and other animal) professionals and enthusiasts as they navigate challenges and opportunities the industry presents through coaching and educational experiences.
Brie’s herd consists of her 18-year-old Paint horse, Sunny, and her two Mustangs, Spruce and Stella. Under the guidance of Jessica Dabkowski, Brie is training Spruce, a 7-year-old mare from the Spruce Pequop herd, and Stella, a filly from the Jicarilla herd. Working with these horses has deepened Brie’s understanding of the importance of using research based practices to support horses’ understanding and overall well-being in training.
Brie’s passion for equine bodywork, combined with her unique experiences with Mustangs and senior horses, allows her to provide a specialized approach that helps horses and their people feel more balanced, calm, and confident, all while strengthening the bond they share with each other.
Based in Fort Collins, when Brie isn’t working with horses and their people, you can also find her exploring the beauty of Colorado with her three dogs.
